Frequently Asked Questions
Alpaca fleece contains low lanolin, which has been shown to help with allergy problems in some people. Also is grown naturally without the need to drench and chemically clean the animals, as is required for sheep.
After being shorn, the alpaca fleece is gently washed with organically certified detergents and processed into our alpaca throws without the use of chemicals.
Alpaca fiber is self-cleaning and does not absorb any extraneous odors. Therefore, it
is usually sufficient to air the comforter sporadically.
If washing the throw is necessary, for instance due to spillages, this should be done by a professional cleaner.
We do not recommend machine washing at home.
Our alpaca throws are very durable and can last 10 years or longer if treated well.
Since alpaca fiber is self-cleaning and does not absorb odors, the amount of care required is very low.
Importantly, the thermo-regulatory properties are maintained throughout the life of the comforter and do not diminish.
